It seems that in this time and age the quality of services is declining. It becomes more and more difficult to get good value or service for your money.
Sometimes it is difficult to get good service just at any cost. It is easy to think of examples. A bicycle just "repaired" breaks the next day again, in the same part which was just repaired. A car was "fixed", which cost a fortune, but it still drives with the same problem it had before.
You can probably think of similar problems in your own life. It seems to be a sign of the times that service gets worse and mediocrity or worse just has to be tolerated.
The purpose of this page is to point out people and companies which have not given in to this bad trend.

Over the last 10 years I had been bringing my 325e to 5 other BMW shops in Toronto. I was never really happy with the service. Sometimes I was wondering if I was ripped off. Sometimes it was obvious. Some other shops made me run away really fast and far. Sometimes they made you regret that you have a BMW. Sometimes they make you regret that you have a car at all. In fact, I was so sick of it that one day I put my car up for the winter and didn't bother to to put it back in use for 2 years. I was using a bicycle instead. And to think of it, two of these shops were supposed to be the cream of the crop. To me it seems they were dishone$t and expen$ive. |
Now I have found a shop that is different from the rest. Bimmerhaus in Bolton. I will never give my car to another shop anymore. These people treat you honestly. Expert technicians and engineers that can see and know what is going on with a car. They know all parts and how they work. They tell you the truth about your car. They repair what needs to be repaired and it stays repaired.
They give you real value for your money. In other words, this is a shop that makes you feel happy that you have a very fine driving machine, a BMW. In fact, now I cannot think of buying any other car brand anymore - unless someone can show me a shop as good as this one for that brand. But it will still be tough. Because this shop proves that BMW's are very fine cars indeed. They keep well. They drive well. And while BMW's come with high esteem of quality and craftsmanship, this shop proves to you that you have excellent value at the same time.

What is the best computer to buy? Well, in my mind it is the computer
that does what you want, does it reliably, can be easily expanded to do what
you may want to do in the future and does not cost too much. Sounds simple,
doesn't it?
I find that the degree of competence in the field of computers varies widely. Sometimes even brand-name shops excel in incompetence. Take the example of my boss who bought his computer at an outlet of a big three-letter company. A few months later he wanted it upgraded to have a sound card and a CD-ROM. It took him 4 attempts, each time bringing the computer back to the shop because the newly installed components were not properly set up or not working at all. The last time he brought it there, they finally got it right. However, by then he was so frustrated, that he had accidentally locked his keys in his car, with the motor running. Needless to say, the computer shop did not take any responsibility for the expenses for the trouble with his car.

While trouble with a computer can really frustrate beyond belief, a well
operating computer is a joy to work with.

Cathy really knows her business like no other travel agent I have seen before. She must have access to and know every deal of every airline, and every charter flight any time under the sun.
I am probably not one of the easiest travellers to service. Often I decide just a few days before I want to go somewhere. And sometimes the destinations are quite exotic. Sometimes they are quite standard. However, always I am amazed what a good deal Cathy manages to find.
Occasionally I checked with fellow passengers sitting beside me in the plane what they paid for their flight. I have yet to find one who paid less than I.
Probably the only thing Cathy can not do is to get you on a flight that left yesterday.
